Things to look for before buying a binocular:

Magnification:
The number for the magnification is written with x. So if a binocular depicts 10x then it has the power of magnifying a subject ten times. The top magnifications for regular use are between 7x-12x and anything beyond that would be hard to manage without a tripod.

Diameter:
The other side of the eye piece is the objective lens. The size of the lens is important as it regulates the light amount that enters the binoculars. For low light conditions, if a binocular has a bigger diameter of a lens then one gets better images. The size of the lens in mm is after the z.

Quality:
The amount of light that is reflected is reduced due to the lens coating and it lets the considerable amount of light to enter. The excellent lenses works best in low light conditions as they spread more light. The lens quality controls the image and makes it an exception that has better contrast.

Field of View:
It refers to the diameter of the area that is viewed through the glasses and represented in degrees. The bigger the field of view the larger the area one sees. The diameter of the lens is segregated by magnification that gives the exit pupil.

Weight:
The weight of the binoculars must be considered before buying it. Before buying a binocular see whether it taxes your eyes. The high-end binoculars hardly cause strain to the eyes if used for long hours.

Waterproof:
Binoculars are generally outdoor product and it is important to buy one with waterproofing. The regular models of compact binoculars can stay in water for few minutes. The high-end marine binoculars are not damages easily even if they are immersed in water for some hours.
